Itchy Skin
Itchy skin is an uncomfortable, irritating sensation that can make scratching irresistible. It seems simple. When you itch, you scratch. But itchy skin can have hundreds of possible causes. In the foot and ankle the most common causes are tinea pedis (athletes foot), dry skin, callus formation, irritation, seronegative arthritis or internal diseases such as diabetes, liver disease or kidney disease.
In most cases the itchy skin can be treated by using creams or pills. In some cases the underlying disease needs to be controlled. It is very important to make the correct diagnosis in order to treat this pathology.
